Renal failure is when a nephrologist consults, leaves recommendations, but they're not helpful in management.

Medicine Resident: Did you consult Renal?
Medicine Intern: Yeah.
Medicine Resident: Awesome. What did they say?
Medicine Intern: Not much actually. Just to monitor the creatinine.
Medicine Resident: Wow. Major Renal failure.
