Icterus was the son of a master craftsman named Daedalus.
That Time Icterus Acted Like an A**hole & DIed Because of It
Daedalus made two pairs of wings out of wax and feathers for himself and Icterus. Daedalus warned his son not too fly to close to the sun or to the sea. But being the jerk that he was, Icterus flew too close to the sun, causing his wings to melt and his liver to develop jaundice, and he plunged into the sea where he ultimately died of refractory ascites.
