A printer (also known as a piece of sh*t) is a device that takes output from a computer and proceeds to not print it out on paper, whether it's in the work room or at the nurses station.[1][2] Although printers can vary in size, speed, sophistication, make, and cost, one thing they have in common: they do not work in the hospital. Most commonly, a printer in the hospital is filled with paper, no toner, and has an IT work number attached to it that hasn't been touched for months.[3] The printer is often a source of chronic headaches for social workers, secretaries, and health care professionals alike.
