The SOFA score was a creation from Sepsis-3 and helps quantity organ dysfunction and diagnose sepsis and severe sepsis. Why the acronym? It is so easy to calculate you can do it while sitting on the SOFA! (Although you probably shouldn't and go tend to your patient instead.)
