The Transfusion Requirements in Critical Care (or TRICC) trial studied a restrictive transfusion strategy compared to a liberal transfusion strategy in critically-ill patients, and showed better survival in the former group compared to the latter. This study should not be confused with the TRICH trial, which studied infection rates caused by the parasite Trichomonas vaginalis.
