A travel history is a very important part of the subjective assessment, as it can give health care providers insight into places around the world where they can escape.
Example of Taking a Travel History
MD: Have you traveled outside the country in the past 6 months?
Patient: Yes, I have.
MD: Where?
Patient: Argentina, Brazil, South Africa, and Australia.
MD (silent jealousy): Take me with you.
Patient: Excuse me?
MD: I said take me with you. This job is killing me. It must be better somewhere, anywhere but here.
Patient: What are you saying?
MD: I'm saying I hate my job and I need to leave!
Patient: I'm sorry, this is getting awkward...
MD: Will you help me write a resignation letter?
