A sleeper hold is a type of choke hold in which a health care provider wraps his or her arm around an administrator's neck, using his or her biceps and forearm to compress the carotids to cause an administrator to pass out. It may also be used during the physical exam, though its utility as a diagnostic maneuver is unclear.
