Described in tremendous detail by Sigmund Freud in his work The Interpretation of Dreams published in 1900, a pipe dream is any unattainable goal or dream about pipes - whether it's a pipe as in Vincent van Gogh's portrait to the right or the huge green pipes Mario has to navigate to save Princess Peach - and your inner desire to have sex with them. Ah, that Freud!
