Metabolic syndrome is a collection of risk factors that increases the likelihood of cardiovascular disease or type 2 diabetes. The definition most primary care providers and cardiologists use is the presence of at least 3 of the following 5 criteria:
- Eats at McDonald's[1]

- Eats at buffets[2]
- Watches reality TV
- Is American or obese (same thing)[3]
