AAOx5 is shorthand for awake, alert, and oriented to person, place, time, event, and future. It is used to describe a doctor, nurse, any health care provider who has slept well, had their coffee, eaten something, and can now in this well-nourished state see into the future. AAOx4 is very rarely achieved by any health care provider but often dreamed about.[1][2]
