A transatlantic echocardiogram (or TAE) is an ultrasound of the heart performed throughout the duration of a transatlantic flight, taking anywhere from 4 to 10 hours to complete depending on the jet stream. The windows on a transatlantic echocardiogram are fantastic, particularly on a clear sunny day. Do not confuse a transatlantic echocardiogram for a transthoracic echocardiogram or a transesophageal echocardiogram.
