Tickle One's Fancy
To tickle one's fancy is an expression, though we, at Gomerpedia, are unclear as to what it means. Clearly something is being tickled, right? But what? We have restudied the anatomy of the human body, including a thorough examination of Gray's Anatomy and Netter's Atlas of Human Anatomy, but unfortunately have not uncovered what bone, muscle, or organ the fancy is.
When we think of tickling, we naturally must think of the most ticklish parts of the body: the armpits, abdomen, feet, and spleen. However, many people don't enjoy being tickled, so why should anyone want that? One might have a tickle in the back of the throat, but that doesn't seem desirable either. It is common for children to want to "go for a tinkle," but describes a whole other bodily function other than being tickled (performing a number one, for those who need reminding). Another possible guess we'd like to offer is the genitals, though, now that I wrapped my noggin around that aspect, why would you want someone to tickle your genitals?
