Maximum heart rate (or MHR, which is pronounced "mer") can be calculated based on one of several formulas:

  1. 220 - age = MHR
  2. Age + systolic blood pressure = MHR
  3. Probably 150 give or take 40 = MHR
  4. Whatever my Fitbit says = MHR[1]
  5. Number of flights of stairs you stupidly just took instead of taking the elevator x 25 = MHR[2]
