An extremely rare phenomenon in modern medicine, a golden weekend is something a health care practitioner experiences when he or she has a full Saturday off followed by, get this, a full Sunday off. That's right, a Saturday and Sunday off... in succession! The golden weekend is something that is celebrated and cherished by any type of medical personnel. It is the effort of years even decades of studying, personal sacrifices, and hard work.

To people not in health care, a golden weekend is just, well... a regular weekend.
