4" x 4" Gauze.jpg

No longer used in health care except in the rare instance it's scented.[1] 3" x 3" gauze (or 3 x 3 in short) was phased out after a 3 x 3 failed to take care of patient Joseph Hails' 4" x 4" wound back in 1917.[2] Hails is the founder of the revolutionary 4" x 4" gauze, created that same year.
