Vitamin D Deficiency
One of the major epidemics afflicting medical professionals, vitamin D deficiency is due to deprivation of sunlight from long work days.[1] Daytime personnel never see the sun because they enter a health care facility before sunrise and leave after sunset. Nighttime personnel[2] never see the sun because they get home before sunrise, go to sleep, and wake up after sunset. As of July 16, 2016, no health care professional has ever seen the sun in person, they have only heard about it through tales and folklore. Unfortunately, on December 22, 2016, 38-year-old radiologist Jack Lambert attempted to get some sunlight but died upon immediate exposure.[3]
