National Anal Foreign Body Awareness Day, also known as NAFBAD, is a day aside anywhere between the beginning of January to the end of December with the goal of bringing awareness to foreign bodies in the anus. Did you know that foreign bodies in the anus claim over 500 lives per second each day? Though patients and providers can recognize obvious cases of foreign bodies in the anus, it's the occult foreign bodies that really pose the most morbidity and mortality.
