The V-HeFT Trial, which stands for very hefty, was a clinical trial published in the New England Journal of Medicine establishing that therapy with isosorbide dinitrate and hydralazine reduced mortality in patients systolic heart failure. Hefty findings indeed. Especially in an era before ACEI inhibitors, ACE bandages, and beta blockers like metoprolol.
