Hypertension, essential or not, is an abnormally high blood pressure that may predispose to health problems like heart and cerebrovascular disease.
Causes
Dr. Perry Cox on Scrubs has a theory, which he explains to intern Elliot Reid: "I actually had my physical last week, and while my cholesterol was low, my blood pressure was through the roof.
