Cricoid Pressure
From Gomerpedia
Cricoid pressure is one of the lesser known vital signs.[1]
How to Measure Cricoid Pressure
- Using an appropriately-sized cricoid pressure cuff, wrap it around the patient's neck
- Press the stethoscope over one of the carotid arteries
- Rapidly inflate the cuff to 180 mmHg
- When the patient loses their airway, initiate endotracheal intubation using the Sellick maneuver.
