Cricoid Pressure

Cricoid pressure is one of the lesser known vital signs.

How to Measure Cricoid Pressure

---

1. Using an appropriately-sized cricoid pressure cuff, wrap it around the patient's neck
2. Press the stethoscope over one of the carotid arteries
3. Rapidly inflate the cuff to 180 mmHg
4. When the patient loses their airway, initiate endotracheal intubation using the Sellick maneuver.
