Intern: "I definitely don't have decision-making capacity!"

In health care, capacity refers to one's ability to understand information and communicate a decision with reason, while understanding the risks and benefits associated with that decision.

Gomerpedia Tips

  1. Many patients who you think don't have capacity actually do have capacity.
  2. Interns never have capacity.[1]
  3. A patient who leaves AMA (against medical advice) always has decision-making capacity.
