Cough Suppressant

A cough suppressant or antitussive helps control coughing by suppressing the urge to cough.[1]


Cough suppressants fall into two classes:

(1) Medications, such as dextromethorphan or benzonatate.

(2) Intubation, which is by far the preferred method by medical personnel.[2][3][4][5]
