Cricoid Pressure
Cricoid pressure is one of the lesser known vital signs.[1]
How to Measure Cricoid Pressure
- Wrap an appropriately-sized cricoid pressure cuff around the patient's neck.
- Press the stethoscope over one of the carotid arteries.
- Rapidly inflate the cuff to 180 mmHg.
- When the patient loses their airway, initiate endotracheal intubation using the Sellick maneuver.
