Air Conditioning
Air conditioning (or AC) is the process of cooling air in a healthcare setting to the point that everyone's nipples are shriveled and penguins start roaming about the premises freely. Air conditioning is always on; it doesn't matter if it's summer or winter. It is always on and it is always on full blast.
Why?
Great question. It's quite possible hospital administrators are trying to find new ways to frustrate health care professionals. Knowing that they prefer to wear scrubs, which doesn't maintain warmth like a black fleece or buttoned white coat, administrators are quite smart to negate the one thing that keeps us in this business (the ability to wear scrubs i.e. pajamas to work) by blasting the air conditioning to absolute zero (0 Kelvin or –273.15 degrees Celsius).[1]
