A tongue elevator is a flat stick-like object used to elevate the tongue and "take a looksie," Since numerous meta-analyses consistently found that tongue elevation blocks the oropharynx, the tongue elevator is hardly used today. Unlike the tongue depressor, a tongue elevator has no value.
